Hands-on labs have always been one of the most popular features of the Microsoft Management Summit. This year, MMS 2010 will feature more lab topics, more instructor-led lab sessions and extended self-paced lab opening times.

Lab topics hosted during the event will again cover a broad range of IT Management products and solutions using System Center products and Windows Management Technologies. This year a large number of new lab topics are being added to cover new product releases such as Configuration Manager v.Next, Essentials 2010, Data Protection Manager 2010 and many more.

All registered attendees interested in attending labs are strongly encouraged to book places in Instructor-led lab sessions as early as possible after registering since the most popular topics are often fully booked long before the event opens.

Lab topics will again be offered at MMS 2010 in two distinct formats:

Instructor-led Labs: Four rooms are dedicated to Instructor-led lab (ILL) sessions throughout the week, during which an instructor provides an introduction to the each lab topic and leads attendees step-by-step through the lab procedure for a specific topic. Places in all Instructor-led lab sessions may be reserved in advance though the MMS 2010 attendee web site Session Scheduler tool. Prior reservations are recommended since sessions often become fully booked before the event opens.

Self-paced Labs: A Self-paced hands-on lab area adjacent to the CommNet area offers walk-up access to all lab topics where attendees may complete their choice of lab without an instructor. Lab proctor support is provided in this area during session time-slots and the area remains open outside session times without proctor support. Access to this area is provided on a first-come basis - on-line reservations are not available for the Self-paced lab area. This area offers all the topics covered by the ILL sessions and many additional topics.

Lab Session Scheduling
Instructor-led lab sessions are scheduled to match breakout session slots and are 75 minutes long. Scheduled lab sessions start on Monday, April 19th. These Monday lab sessions are extremely popular and tend to be fully booked well before the event opens.

The hands-on lab schedule has been published and the Schedule Builder tool is now open to registered attendees for on-line bookings. Registered attendees may reserve places in lab sessions by signing in and selecting the Schedule Builder option on the left hand menu.
